Recognizing Opeyemi Moses: The Visionary Behind Yemipoet Creation’s SDG-Themed Poetry Movement
YP
Yemipoet Creation has launched its latest anniversary poetry contest, themed around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More than just a creative challenge, this theme invites poets to address global issues, including poverty and hunger, gender equality, education, and climate action, utilizing the power of their words.
At the heart of this movement is Opeyemi Moses, the founder and curator of Yemipoet Creation, whose consistent leadership and vision continue to reshape Nigeria’s literary landscape.
Recognizing Opeyemi Moses — The Voice Behind the Voices

It’s this dedication that has drawn national attention.
National Recognition by The Nation Newspaper

In a major milestone for the platform, Opeyemi's work at Yemipoet Creation was recently featured in The Nation newspaper, one of Nigeria’s most respected media outlets. In their July 31st article, reporters highlighted the platform’s innovative approach to engaging Nigerian youth through poetry and its alignment with the UN SDGs.
"Yemipoet Creation has become a rallying point for creative activism, especially among young Nigerians. The SDG-themed contest marks a new high point in the platform’s contribution to societal discourse through art." – The Nation, July 2025
This recognition is not just a badge of honor—it’s a testament to the credibility, relevance, and influence that Yemipoet now holds in Nigeria’s cultural and social advocacy space.
About the Current Theme: SDGs

The new contest invites poets to write on any of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Building on the success of May 2025’s “Zero Hunger” contest, which saw 195 impactful entries, this new edition will open the floor to a wider range of global conversations. Submissions open in early August, with details to be announced on Yemipoet’s Instagram.
