About us

Yemipoet Creation is the registered name for Yemipoet contest, a creative platform that organizes contests, promotes emerging talents, and envisions a future in publishing.

Yemipoet fosters creativity and connection among poets in Nigeria. Through monthly themed competitions, each drawing over 200 entries from poets. These themes often align with cultural, spiritual, and real-life issues, as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including gender equality, zero hunger, climate action, and social justice. The top three winners are awarded cash prizes, cultivating a competitive yet supportive community.

More than a platform, the Yemipoet Contest has given birth to the Yacso Foundation, a nonprofit organization that oversees the Yemipoet Contest. The Yacso Foundation champions school/community outreaches to foster self-expression and mental health, teaching poetry and storytelling, and inspiring social change. At its heart lies the Yemigoldentouch Initiative, our partner NGO dedicated to creating real-world impact through targeted outreach aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 2 and 4, specifically Zero Hunger and Quality Education.

The Yemipoet December Poetry Contest 2025 is officially closed, and our hearts are full.

This December's theme: a poetic letter to self on your 2025 creative journey, brought in 287 entries, each one a brave act of sharing and self-expression.

Thank you to every poet who submitted, posted or collaborated. Our goal was simple: to gently encourage us to tell our stories and create memories we can look back on with pride. This contest is more than a competition, it’s a collective pat on the back, a reminder that we’re growing together.

Although every piece was deserving, our capacity allows us to support gift four poets. This December, our selection will not be based on creativity or writing skill, but on emotion, vulnerability, and the depth of struggle expressed. This month is about giving hope. Top 30 will be announced soon.
