<blockquote>Have you ever seen an image that instantly pulls you into a world where words come alive?</blockquote> This April, we slightly shifted away from our usual themed contests and embraced something fun and profound—visual poetry—inviting participants to unlock a new level of creativity through a picture prompt. As expected, many of our participants did a remarkable job showcasing their artistic creativity—not only through thoughtful interpretation but also through their ability to craft evocative words inspired solely by what their eyes saw and their hearts felt. Come with me, let's walk you through a detailed journey in April. The contest was officially announced on April 1st, with the submission deadline set for April 9th. Submission Criteria Our submission criteria were basic and nothing out of the ordinary. We simply asked that each poem contain no more than four lines per stanza, with a total of three stanzas overall. The criteria served their intended purpose; not only did they allow focus and conciseness, but within those limits, they also left room for creative expression. Evaluation Criteria Our evaluation process was guided by clear and easy-to-apply standards. We considered each entry based on originality, picture prompt interpretation, expression clarity, creativity, imagery, language, structure and emotional impact. This helped us maintain fairness while recognizing and respecting each poet's voice. April ’25 Poetry Contest: The Muse of Sight

We were more like, if you are a poet, then show us who you say you are through lines and stanzasTrust our poets; they gracefully stepped into the spotlight and revealed their identity through verses that reeked of boldness, identity and a class of creativity that left us speechless.&nbsp;Through their poems, they showed us who they are, not just in name, but in essence.&nbsp;SUBMISSION CRITERIA The submission of entries was received through the platform's official website, www.yemipoetproduction.com, as always indicated in the bio.&nbsp;With each entry instructed to be no more than 3 stanzas, 15 lines only, the contest commenced on 1st March. By the end of the submission deadline fixed for March 9th, we received a record of 226 poems for the month. &nbsp;EVALUATION CRITERIAWe evaluated the poems by reviewing theme engagement, creativity, use of imagery and symbolism, language and structure.&nbsp;Initially, we came up with our top 30 poets after the first level of evaluation. MARCH 2025 POETRY CONTEST

<blockquote>THEME: ADVOCATING A WORLD OF LOVE&nbsp;</blockquote>Beyond our usual themed monthly written contest, YemiPoet Creation delved into POETSING: a collaboration of spoken word and singing contests. This creativity was inspired by the celebration of St. Valentine's Day. Across the globe, Valentine’s Day is recognised as the day to express love between families, lovers, friends, business associates and much more.&nbsp; However, at YemiPoet, the message for the month centred on portraying Love Beyond a Day, especially in a world where the differences in human perspective, thought, evolution, choice and decisions affect, causing division. We aimed for creative expressions that herald and showcase love as the medicine to healing divisions, promoting unity and building a better world where lives and communities can transform and co-exist.&nbsp;The Contest instructions by the Founder were simple, essential and straightforward. It included;&nbsp;1. Duet Submission (2 people, &nbsp;a song and poetry combination).2. Fill out the form via the link on @yemipoet IC Bio on or before the 12th of February, 2025.3. The theme rolls out its layer of optimism, strength, authority and introspection, piquing and bracing each poet for what's to come in the New Year and evoking thoughtful personalized questions such as ‘Who will be trusted if the smooth sailing tide changes and the boat starts to capsize or whose power will be acknowledged to run a smooth year without hiccups? JANUARY ‘25 POETRY CONTEST

<blockquote>THEME: 2024, A GRATEFUL WALK</blockquote>The year held and unravelled multiple things for people (positive and negative). This gives insight into the reason the theme “2024, A Grateful Walk,” reflective in tone, was chosen for our poets. The aim was for each poet to lock into their journey through the lens of introspection to provoke gratitude; helping them focus on appreciating their experiences, buckling courage to their chest and embracing the new year with even positive energy.&nbsp;SUBMISSION CRITERIA The recognized poetry category for the month was Free Verse, giving room to each poet's creativity with their structures and expressions without the rudiments of a rhyme scheme. The Submission deadline was on December 9th. After the deadline elapsed, we recorded the submission of 200 poems in written form only.&nbsp;EVALUATIONKeeping in mind the recognition of the creativity, time and effort dedicated to each work, our judge swung right into evaluating the pieces. The evaluation criterion was selecting poems which resonated and truly reflected the stories, and experiences of poets, showcasing their gratitude attitude around the clock of 2024. She also made donations of 100,000 Naira to be awarded to the Top 3 poets. You would agree we could not have given all 200 poets some sort of award, however, we awarded our remaining 7 poets from the Top 10 with the sum of 5,000 Naira each. This showcases our awareness of inclusivity and recognition of poets which is a mantra in our community.&nbsp;SUMMARYThrough this month's contest, YemiPoet was able to plunge her audiences and participants into deep reflection on what they've been throughout 2024 and still find the strength to express their gratitude in words.&nbsp;MORAL LESSONIn all things, give thanks!
